And what a great-
looking group of
women they are,
all 1.5 million strong,
all so beautiful and
exciting that
we
should probably add
a WARNING LABEL
for all the men who
visit these pages...
PROCEED WITH
CAUTION: Gorgeous
Red Hatters featured
prominently on this
Website
!

A
Washington Post
article (“Crimson
Tide” by Mary Jane
Solomon, 10/22/04)
said, “Thanks to a
unique women's
movement that's
spreading faster
than lemon curd on
scones, an ever-
growing sisterhood
is rediscovering the
simple joys of playing
dress-up, holding tea
parties and indulging
in frivolity with like-
minded friends. You
see them every
place, from elegant
restaurants to rustic
riding trails: laughing
ladies, usually in
their fifties or older,
dressed to the nines
in bright
purple attire
accented with
fire-
engine-red hats and
glitzy jewelry
.”

Red Hatters
apparently have
neither the
disposition nor the
time to grieve over
the passing of youth.
They’re having `way
too much fun
laughing in
time’s face!

Thousands of
Red
Hat Society
chapters
have sprouted up all
around since the
first one came
together in 1997.
Each chapter has its
own distinctive
name, often one that
treats age totally
tongue-in-cheek.

Red Hatters project a
different picture of
aging than many
have predicted aging
boomers would
project. You see, the
Red Hat ladies view
aging through rosy-
red glasses, seeing
these years as a time
to have fun and kick
up their collective
sequined red heels!

Is it any wonder why
the love affair
between Jimmy
Clanton and the
vivacious
Red Hat
ladies
continues to
flourish all over
the world?

"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a
red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me..."

So goes Jenny Joseph's poem, "Warning," that nearly
every
Red Hatter can recite from memory.

the "Red Hat Woman" song surround Jimmy at a

Wild and crazy woman
Love looking at her
Like the ways she smiles
Love to hear her laughter
Don’t know why
she loves me
Don’t seem to matter
That’s why I love her so,
My sweet Red Hatter

She’s my Red Hat Woman
(Yes indeed)
My Red Hat Woman
(Can’t you see)
My Red Hot,
Red Hat Woman
means the world to me

Fun-lovin’ woman
She’s where it’s at
Sets me all aflame
Sweet kitty-cat
I’m crazy `bout her
Guess you know that
Som’n special `bout her
Underneath that Red Hat

She’s my Red Hat Woman
(Yes indeed)
My Red Hat Woman
(Can’t you see)
My Red Hot,
Red Hat Woman
means the world to me
